The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
