The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the Great News 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 The night a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
