The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
