The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
