The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great event, 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 save boiling water and pus 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30

Notes and Instructions
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
