The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
