The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they have been differing? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
