The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And dense gardens. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
