The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
