The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
