The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they differ? 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
