The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
