The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they have been differing? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 a fitting requital, 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
