The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 The rebels' abode, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
