The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 a fitting requital, 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
