The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
