The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
