The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 a fitting requital, 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
