The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the great tidings! 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
