The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
