The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
