The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
