The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
