The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
