The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
