The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
