The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great news - 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 The night a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 Recompense fitted! 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30

Notes and Instructions
There are memorization exercises for the original Arabic and English transliterated Arabic modes only. The English translation mode has no memorization exercises.
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
