The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 a fitting requital, 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
