The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 a fitting requital, 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
