The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
