The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 About which they differ? 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven will be opened it therefore becomes like gates. 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
