The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the great news - 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 Living therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 save boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
