The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
