The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 , A fitting reward. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
