The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the great tidings! 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
