The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
