The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
