The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 The night a covering, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
