The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great event, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 The night a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
