The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they differ? 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
