The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
