The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 a fitting requital, 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
