The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great news - 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
