The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 Living therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
