The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 The night a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
