The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 a fitting requital, 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
