The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 It will be a place of return 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
