The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
