The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
