The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
